Fulfilling another part of their motto, “A place where we
can be renewed and refreshed, a place where we will always find living water
from the Source,” they made plans for a small chapel members could use during
the week to reflect on their faith and be with God. Two fountains, one outside
and one inside the sanctuary, serve as reminders of their commitment to
constant renewal. Church members even discovered the perfect rock on the
grounds to serve as the fount for one of the springs.
Many other details in the structure also reflect their
convictions. Wellspring demonstrated their commitment to making a difference in
the lives of children and their families by putting the children’s space on the
first floor. Children also helped in writing scripture on the girders and in
the cement as the building was being constructed, so the congregation would be
literally “standing on the Word.” When the new building opens, children and
youth will be the first to enter the new sanctuary, carrying the symbols of
worship with them. In addition, a preschool is scheduled to open in fall 2003.
Just as the members of this church expressed vision and
commitment to their faith and families when they turned to the Texas Methodist
Foundation for a building loan, investors make the same type of statement when
they choose to participate in the Methodist Loan Fund.
“Churches and individuals investing with us find a smart way
to save for the future while exhibiting good stewardship at the same time,”
said Texas Methodist Foundation Sr. Vice President of Loans, David McCaskill. “They
earn rates higher than those offered for most bank CDs and money market funds
while funding our construction loan program which invests in the future of
Christian ministries throughout Texas.”
