Desmond Tutu, the African theologian, describes ubuntu theology, so named after an African idea of community, as follows: "We are people through other people. We are made for interdependence, we are made for family."
The Foundation helps the United Methodist community we serve - individuals, churches, institutions, and agencies - to fulfill their God-appointed mission to the larger community to "make disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world." How? By assisting them in any way possible in following Peter's advice to the early churches to "above all things, show unfailing love for one another."
Our community is defined not by a place or an institution, but by relationships. We are privileged to partner with people who practice ubuntu, who live their lives in community.
