Through our Grants Ministry, the Foundation connects donors with vision to people in need. In the process, life-changing partnerships are formed within communities. Grants awarded from the Foundation’s undesignated endowment give priority to programs addressing the root causes of poverty. Other grants are made based on the preferences of our donors stated when their planned gift was established. The following grants totaling more than $2.2 million, including a number of significant gifts from donor advised funds to support the Perkins School of Theology building program, were funded in 2007:

Illustrate Living in Abundance - With so much media emphasis on the lifestyles of the famous today, we live in a world where church members often feel they have very little in comparison. Many feel they have meager resources to share with others and their church. Furthermore, it’s hard for these folks to find the motivation to give what they do have with a grateful heart when they don’t recognize that they are living in abundance. If you need some assistance illustrating that every church member has the capacity to give, no matter how much they earn or how many possessions they own, encourage your members to visit www.globalrichlist.com. This site allows a family to input its income and see how their figure stacks up with the rest of the world’s population. This exercise may not be the end-all answer to growing faithful givers, but it’s certainly an excellent place to begin.
For more information on the Foundation’s stewardship services and how we can help you Grow Faithful Givers, contact Ed Engleking at eengleking@tmf-fdn.org or 800/933-5502 or visit our website. |

Do Your Members Know About the Methodist Dividend? - In addition to capitalizing on competitive rates and garnering spiritual rewards, the Foundation’s Individual Fund investors also have the option of bequeathing the remainder of their investment fund to a United Methodist interest of their choice upon death. In this way, our investors can support ministry during their lifetime and beyond. Consider sharing with your members this excellent investment opportunity that supports growing ministries in Texas through the Foundation’s loan program. It’s simply good stewardship to enjoy the Methodist dividend.
