How Our Grants Program Works
Grants awarded by the Texas Methodist Foundation are designed to primarily assist programs within the United
Methodist community, unless otherwise specified by an endowment agreement.
Foundation grants are not made to fund endowments and not typically to fund
capital programs. Grants for new program start-up costs are given preference over
underwriting existing operating budgets. Projects need to have the ability to
survive beyond the support of the Texas Methodist Foundation.
It is our hope that the grant will stimulate other giving to
that cause or to other United Methodist causes. Matching-fund grants are
sometimes given to encourage growth in donor base.
Grant Review Schedule
The Grants Committee approves grant requests two times each year, in the spring
and fall.
The spring meeting reviews requests that are funded from our more restricted
endowments. Those funds have either named a very specific cause, or the fund has
named potential recipients that can make an application for funds. Deadline
for submission of grant requests is March 1.
The fall meeting reviews requests that are funded from endowments that give the
Foundation discretion of how funds may be used. Most requests fall within this
category. Deadline for submission of grant requests is September 1.
