Investments
The
financial objectives of our investors range widely. Some
investors seek safety and stability. Some seek liquidity.
Others seek growth. To suit various needs, the Texas Methodist
Foundation offers four investment funds for churches and
institutions, plus one fund for individuals. These funds are
invested in accordance with the Social Principles of The
United Methodist Church.

Methodist
Loan Fund The Methodist Loan Fund is open to United
Methodist churches and institutions in Texas that value the
concept of helping churches throughout the state while earning
returns consistently higher than bank CD and money market
rates. The Foundation makes loans from this fund to United
Methodist churches and institutions as they expand facilities
and services in order to carry Christ's message of hope to
more and more people.
Because
we are a nonprofit organization, we can offer churches
competitive loan rates while paying above-average
rates to supporting investors. To date, no investor in
the Methodist Loan Fund has suffered a loss of principal or
interest on an investment, making this a secure choice for
church funds. We request a minimum investment period of one
year. Both variable and fixed interest rates are
available.
Individual
Fund Investments and IRAs The
Individual Fund offers a unique opportunity for individuals in
Texas and New Mexico who want to participate in the
mission-oriented Methodist Loan Fund. With competitive
rates, high liquidity and safety, it is an excellent
way for individuals to grow their investments while growing
churches around the state. Rates of return in this fund
consistently exceed money market funds and certificates
of deposit (CDs). We request a minimum investment of $1,000
for at least one year. Both variable and fixed interest rates
are offered.
Individual
Retirement Accounts
(IRAs) are also offered through the Individual Fund. Both
traditional and Roth IRAs are available with the same great
rates offered for Individual Fund investments.

Short-Term
Fund For the United Methodist church or institution
seeking a stable short-term investment, we offer the
Short-Term Fund. This fund is composed of investments
including CDs and government and corporate bonds. Investments
in the fund may be accessed at any time without penalty. Rates
of return are competitive with money market
funds.
Earnings
on interest rate investments are reported and credited
monthly. The set rates are based on changes in broader
interest rates and changes in the financial markets. There are
no fees for these funds.
Market
Based Investments
Fixed
Income Fund Our Fixed Income Fund is invested in
government and corporate bonds. These bonds are rated "A" or
better by Moody’s or Standard & Poor’s. As with any fund
invested in securities, market volatility of both gains and
losses is an inherent characteristic. We suggest a minimum
investment of $10,000 for three years or
more.
Equity Fund For investors seeking
growth through long-term investments, the Foundation offers
the Equity Fund. Although this fund is managed according to
quality standards, any investment in stocks may be highly
volatile. We suggest a minimum investment of $25,000 for three
years or more.
Balanced
Fund Our
Balanced Fund is designed to benefit investors seeking
long-term growth and income. The Foundation invests these
assets, typically permanent funds, in a portfolio mix of
equities and interest earning investments, which may include
other funds offered by the Foundation. We suggest a minimum
investment of $25,000 for three years or more for this fund.
Earnings
on market based investments are reported monthly and reflect
the fund's total valuation (net of fees). Returns are based on
the actual market performance of the investments within the
fund.
The
Foundation's administration fees for Equity Fund and Fixed
Income Fund investments are a maximum of .35% on current
market value of investments up to $2.5 million. A complete fee
schedule is available upon request.
