Market-Based Investments

These market-based opportunities have been established to meet the investment objectives for the Texas Methodist Foundation’s permanent endowments and life income accounts. They are open to United Methodist churches, agencies, and institutions within the State of Texas.

Mercer Investment Consulting, Inc. is our investment consultant for our Equity, Fixed Income and Balanced Portfolios. With assets under advisement of more than $1.2 trillion, Mercer is a leading global provider of consulting, outsourcing and investment services.

Fixed Income Portfolio

Our Fixed Income Portfolio is invested in government and corporate bonds. These bonds are rated “A” or better by Moody’s or Standard & Poor’s. As with any account invested in securities, market volatility of both gains and losses is an inherent characteristic. We suggest a minimum investment of $25,000 for three years or more.

Equity Portfolio

The objective for this portfolio is growth through long-term investments. Although this portfolio is managed according to quality standards, any investment in stocks may be highly volatile. We suggest a minimum investment of $25,000 for three years or more.

Balanced Portfolio

Our Balanced Portfolio is designed for long-term growth and income. The Foundation invests these assets, typically permanent funds, in a mix of equities and interest earning investments, which may include other portfolios offered by the Foundation. We suggest a minimum investment of $25,000 for three years or more for this type of account.

Earnings on market based investments are reported monthly and reflect the fund’s total valuation (net of fees). Returns are based on the actual market performance of the investments within the fund.

The Foundation’s administration fees for Equity Portfolio and Fixed Income Portfolio investments are a maximum of .35% on current market value of investments up to $2.5 million. A complete fee schedule is available upon request.
