A Billboard-Sized Vision
Recently, while driving on the highway, billboards along side of the road brought to mind, Habakkuk 2:2, “Write the vision make it plain, so that a runner may read it.” God shared those words with the Prophet Habakkuk to encourage him to express a bold and vivid vision, that would not be misunderstood or appear unclear. Messages displayed on billboards are bold, vivid and clear, just as God mentioned to the prophet.
Think about the billboards you encounter daily. When was the last time you saw a billboard the size of a personal business card that was elevated or lighted? Billboards are similar to the vision casting instructions God gave Habakkuk. Drivers on highways, expressways or toll roads do not stop to read billboard messages, nor do they have to squint in order to read the messages. God-given vision must be bold and vivid if it is going to have a chance to come to fruition.
Visionary leaders cast bold, vivid, spirit-filled visions for members of their congregation or organization. Churches with billboard sized visions are usually growing, thriving, ministry focused congregations. Casting a powerful vision drives lives, goals, mission, ministry and generosity. Effectively, the vision is preached, taught, promoted and integrated in all facets in the life of the church.
When a bold vision statement is placed in prominent areas of a church, believers begin to connect the vision to their part in the mission/ministry field. A vision statement gives members a glimpse of what can happen when members grasp the vision, and make it their mission so that it becomes a reality.
A compelling vision with size and clarity can stimulate and revive any congregation, irrespective of its size or location. It will motivate and move believers toward a picture of a vibrant future. Pastors, cast a vision with billboard size font, so your congregants may read the vision, grasp it, and take it in stride.
