Carol Montgomery Joins TMF as Senior Area Representative for the North Texas Conference
AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Methodist Foundation (TMF) recently announced the addition of the Rev. Carol Montgomery to its staff as TMF’s representative for the North Texas Conference. In that role, Montgomery is the primary point of engagement between congregational leaders and TMF. She connects North Texas Conference constituents to resources relevant to their unique goals for missional growth in their congregations and communities. Montgomery comes to TMF from her most recent appointment as senior pastor at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Garland.
“Carol brings empathy, a discerning spirit, a sense of humor and extraordinary listening skills to this work,” said John Thornburg, TMF’s vice president of area staff. “She will help people, not by telling them what to do, but by leading them to discover God's deepest purpose for their lives and ministries. Our core purpose of ‘empowering the Church in the achievement of her God-appointed missions’ will be more fully lived out with Carol on our team.”
An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Montgomery has served the North Texas Conference in congregational and campus ministries. In addition, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with specialties in family systems and conflict resolution.
“My passion is helping others discover and live into the fullness to which God has called them,” Montgomery commented. “I’m excited about the opportunity to continue my 25-year career partnering with congregations, families, individuals, and businesses by aligning with an organization dedicated to stewarding potential in order to create a better world.”
Montgomery steps into the position formerly held by John Thornburg who will focus on managing area staff activities for all six conference TMF serves throughout Texas and New Mexico.
A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Montgomery earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology. She resides in Garland.
